Job summary

Google is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Embedded Systems and Firmware in the Android XR space in San Jose, CA. You will lead the design of core platform software powering smart glasses with a split compute architecture, connecting glasses runtimes to host devices and Android OS frameworks.

The role requires deep experience with C++, embedded OS, and Android internals, and offers opportunities to mentor junior engineers and influence cross-functional teams across BSP, Silicon, Product,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience required.
• 5 years of experience with software development in C++.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• 3 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
• Experience with consumer product development and Android Platform/OS/Internals.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and implementation of core platform software for the Glasses Framework.
• Collaborate with BSP, Silicon, Product, and OEM teams to drive architecture, performance and reliability.
• Mentor early-career engineers and drive cross-team initiatives in XR software.
