Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in North Kingstown, RI seeks an X-Ray Welder to fabricate high-quality welds for nuclear-powered submarines. The role requires performing welding in multiple positions and passing radiography inspections.

Responsibilities include gouging, maintaining quality, and meeting UT/RT criteria. Applicants must have MIG welding experience and be able to work all shifts. Training and probation apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or technical training.
• 6+ months of structural MIG welding experience or current EB welding qualifications.
• Knowledge of welding procedures and welding equipment.
• Ability to work in horizontal, vertical, overhead and flat positions.
• Able to work at heights and in tight spaces.
• Available to work all shifts.
• Must bring own basic hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Weld in all positions and on various joint designs.
• Gouging of full penetration welds.
• Maintain high quality, speed and efficiency.
• Meet UT/RT acceptance criteria and internal policies.
• Use pneumatic tools (grinders, burr tools, brushes).
• Pre-heat equipment and gouging; verify weld size with gauges.
• Complete RT welding test and six-month probation.
