Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp. is seeking a skilled welder for their Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI. The role involves welding a variety of materials, reading weld symbols, and participating in ongoing training across multiple welding processes.

The candidate must have welding experience or formal training, a high school diploma (or equivalent), and be able to work all shifts. A bend weld test may be required after training, and basic hand tools are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or related technical experience.
• Welding experience or formal welding training is required.
• Able to work all shifts.
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures as required.
• Must pass destructive bend weld test after training.
• Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Welding on a wide variety of materials using various weld processes.
• Welding structural assemblies using GMAW and SMAW during fabrication and installation of submarine construction.
• Participate in training for traditional and new welding processes; qualification required for each process.
• Use pneumatic tools such as grinders, burr tools, wire brushes.
• Perform oxy/fuel pre-heat and carbon/arc gouging; verify weld size with gauges.
• Read and interpret weld symbols, technique sheets, and work packages.
• Additional tasks as assigned.
