Qualifications

Job Description

X-Ray Technologist - (Part Time)

Evening and weekend coverage needed.

Essential Job functions
  1. Assumes accountability for managing delivery of care and patient safety.
  2. Prepares patients for procedures providing instructions to obtain desired results, cooperation, and to minimize anxiety.
  3. Operates CR / Digital X-ray system and imaging equipment properly, safely, and efficiently.
  4. Operates and performs Bone Density exams.
  5. Obtains and documents patient history and pertinent information. Assesses patients for potential risk factors.
  6. Ensures proper identification of patient and demographics in PACS.
  7. Clarifies / follows Doctor’s orders and scans needed information in PACS.
  8. Completes procedures within an acceptable time frame.
  9. Produces quality diagnostic images for interpretation, such as positioning and technique.
  10. Maintains x-ray room cleanliness after exams and procedures. Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care.
  11. Performs QA/QC testing based on the frequency required by the State.
  12. Prioritizes and organizes work assignments and adjusts priorities based on changing situations.
  13. Maintains order and cleanliness in technologist work area.
  14. Consults and communicates with other departments professionally.
  15. Plans delivery of care according to patient activity and staff competencies.
  16. Familiar with location of emergency equipment and medications to assist in treatment of contrast reactions and other emergencies.
  17. Demonstrates awareness of Radiation Safety procedures for self and others.
  18. Assists Radiologist in performing fluoroscopic procedures. Obtains patient information / chart notes for fluoroscopy procedures. Documents fluoroscopy time and scans paperwork for Radiologist.
  19. Ensures equipment is in acceptable condition by conducting routine quality control checks.
  20. Follows department standards for reporting equipment malfunctions or problems.
  21. Follows / adheres to sterile procedures.
  22. Verifies exams in the PACS system.
General Job functions:
  1. Directs the daily operations of all radiology functions, in all locations.
  2. Demonstrates decision-making, delegation, and ensures the welfare of patients and staff.
  3. Maintains equipment records and recommends replacement of outdated or poorly functioning equipment.
  4. Plans and assists in the orientation of new technical staff.
  5. Implements and oversees Quality Control as mandated by the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
  6. Demonstrates understanding and awareness of safety and radiation protection.
  7. Cancels and reschedules patient appointments as needed.
  8. Replenishes and changes supplies in the assigned area as needed.
  9. Demonstrates understanding of safety, health, and moral needs of customers and co-workers.
  10. Able to perform Gen. X-ray and Bone Density procedures in Satellite offices when requested.
  11. Other duties as required.
Physical Job Requirements:

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers.
  • Balance during climbing, bending, and reaching.
  • Endurance for continuous typing, standing, bending, walking.
Environmental Risks:

  • Potentially combative patients/visitors
Blood-borne Pathogens:
  • Exposure to infectious hazards, blood, body fluids, non-intact skin, or tissue specimens.
  • Contact with patients or patient specimens possible.
  • Unplanned or unexpected exposure.
Education, Certification, Computer, and Training Requirements:
  • Diploma from a vocational/technical school required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • 0-1 years experience required; 2-4 years preferred. Prior radiology technologist experience required. Knowledge of procedural details required.
  • ARRT certification required. Basic Life Support (BLS) required. NJ Bureau of Radiological Health license required.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Ability to perform diverse work assignments with accuracy and within time limitations required.
  • Problem-solving, critical thinking, and priority setting skills required.
  • Experience with standard office equipment preferred.
  • Experience with Windows-based office technology preferred.
