The candidate should be a graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program with ARRT registration and current CPR certification, and must meet NC licensure requirements.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic technologist training program is required.
  • ARRT registration is required.
  • Licensure/certification per NC is required.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and document patient medical history prior to physician exam.
  • Position radiographic equipment correctly over the area of the body.
  • Adjust x-ray machine controls to achieve appropriate density and contrast.
  • Perform diagnostic x-rays as directed by physician and APP.
  • Prepare medical records and x-ray films for review.
  • Maintain infection control policies and clean exam rooms.
  • Educate patients about diagnoses, procedures, and medications.

Description

The Radiologic Technologist provides professional patient care under physician supervision. Primarily responsible for critique and performance of quality diagnostic imaging in an orthopedic setting; Completion of all examinations, documentation and accurately identifying all charges associated with studies.

Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic technologist training program
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist registration
  • Licensure and/or certification as required by the State of North Carolina
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform procedures including body mechanics and patient movement
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and contraindications for patients and all visitors within the facility
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Ability to communicate clearly
Responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following
  • Obtain and document patient medical history including the reason for the visit and any other pertinent information related to treatment prior to physician exam
  • Position radiographic equipment at the correct angle and height over the appropriate area of a patient's body
  • Adjust controls on the x-ray machine to produce radiographs of the appropriate density, detail, and contrast of the body part
  • Perform all diagnostic x-rays as indicated by physician and APP
  • Prepares medical record information, including x-ray films for physician review before physician exam
  • Maintains compliance with infection control policies and procedures
  • Performs patient education when appropriate including oral and written education related to diagnosis, procedures, and/or medications
  • Replenishes supplies - cleans exam room after each patient per infection control guidelines and stocks exam room at end of each day
  • Communicates supply shortages as well as other clinical needs to Clinical Manager or designee
  • Ensures that laboratory and other diagnostic test results are obtained and communicated to physicians to ensure appropriate and timely physician intervention. All pending results are obtained prior to the patient’s next clinic visit
  • Ensures all documentation and charges associated with studies accurately reflect the patient encounter and plan of care
Other Responsibilities
  • Follows all applicable department and practice policies and procedures
  • Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA privacy and confidentiality guidelines established by the practice
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions
  • Computer input of patient information
  • Participates in mandatory staff functions as directed by the Clinical manager (may include overtime)
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned by Manager, including schedule changes and travel to office locations as assigned
  • Maintains a pleasant and cooperative demeanor while performing all duties
  • Maintains compliance with continuing education requirements to maintain current certifications, licensure, etc.
