Overview

At Fast Pace Urgent Care, X-Ray Techs provide essential clinical and administrative support for effective patient care under the supervision of Providers, Nurse Practitioners, or Physician Assistants. They deliver outstanding patient service in a compassionate, welcoming environment, responding quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment, including imaging. The X-Ray Tech ensures excellent customer service for all internal and external customers by utilizing in-depth knowledge and effective communication with team members.

Responsibilities
  • Fulfill all responsibilities of Nurse/Clinical Tech and Patient Care Specialist roles as detailed in their respective descriptions.
  • Support clinical and administrative tasks, adhering to company policies and procedures.
    • Monitor and track x-ray orders for timely completion and submission.
  • Assist patients with proper positioning during exams to ensure diagnostic quality.
  • Conduct activities consistent with department expectations and compliant with federal and state regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Review exam images for initial provider review.
  • Send final images to Radiology for over-read.
  • Label images correctly with laterality using lead markers.
  • Ensure no artifacts are present, using proper technique (“S” number), and document any artifacts with appropriate explanations.
  • Address minor maintenance issues with equipment and consult with the nurse coordinator or Clinic Director as needed.
  • Monitor equipment condition, report issues promptly, and maintain cleanliness to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Manage pregnancy waiver forms where applicable.
  • Perform triage by checking vitals, collecting clinical history, and recording information in EMS; may include blood draws, injections, and medication administration if permitted by state.
  • Monitor and record X-Ray badge usage monthly.
  • Wear radiation monitors at all times in the X-Ray room and report as required.
  • Complete mandatory compliance training.
  • Welcome and support new employees, including clinic tours and process overviews.
  • Assist in training new staff through shadowing, demonstrations, and coaching.
  • Maintain friendly, professional relations with staff and clients, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Perform physical, sensory, cognitive, and environmental functions as specified.
  • Adhere to company standards and core values of teamwork, communication, empowerment, quality care, and friendliness.
Experience and Certification Requirements

Current License or Certification:

  • ARRT License (Registered Technologist)
  • State License (Registered Technologists or Limited Scope)
  • License must be active, in good standing, and verifiable.
  • TB and IV Certification required within 60 days of employment if applicable in your state.

*** Additional Requirements for Full Scope X-Ray Only

  • Level 1: High School Diploma or equivalent, current CPR, and at least 1 year of experience as a certified RT(R) or limited scope x-ray tech, preferably in urgent care.
  • Level 2: Certified RTR with current CPR, over 1 year and less than 3 years of experience in direct patient care.
  • Additional Requirements for Ancillary roles include certification and experience in specific areas, with evaluations after 6 months.

*** Additional Requirements for LSRT X-Ray (States requiring LSRT licensure)

  • Similar levels as above, with experience and certification specifics, plus responsibilities like ultrasound procedures and fracture stabilization.
Education and License Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent; Limited Scope X-Ray Technologist License; ARRT Certification; Full Scope X-Ray State License.
