Position Summary: Under general supervision of a Chief and Senior Technologist, operates standard, portable, and specialized X-Ray equipment to perform radiographic exams used for diagnosis and treatment. Provides appropriate patient care, obtains images using digital radiography (DR) imaging technology.

  1. 1 - Fri, Sat, Sun 8am - 8:30pm
  2. 1 - Fri, Sat, Sun 7:00PM - 7:30AM

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Counsels patients on radiographic examinations.
  2. Lifts and correctly positions patients onto examination tables in order to achieve desired radiographic results.
  3. Determines proper technical factors such as voltage, current, exposure time, and focal distance based on patient size, physical condition and suspected pathology.
  4. Adjusts lead shields to protect unaffected parts of the patient’s anatomy.
  5. Selects and loads proper film. Positions X-ray equipment at correct distance and operates equipment according to specific diagnostic procedures.
  6. Operates portable X-ray equipment and uses special equipment such as tomography.
  7. Verifies all patient films, examination requisitions and records are properly completed.
  8. Processes film, reloads cassettes and reviews developed film for quality.
  9. Checks equipment and accessories to ensure proper operation. Reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel.
  10. Transports patients as required.
  11. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner. Regularly checks to ensure adequate diagnostic supplies are available.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in radiologic technology is preferred.
  2. At least two years of experience as a Radiation Technologist.
  3. Certification as a Medical Radiation Technologist by the Maryland Board of Physician Quality Assurance is required.
  4. Certification from ARRT required.
  5. Adults and Peds X-ray experience preferred.
  6. AHA BLS CPR certification required.
  7. Hospital and Trauma experience is a must and OR/Ortho would be a bonus.
