Job summary

Loyola Medicine is seeking an X-Ray Technical Specialist to serve as the technical subject matter expert and lead the development of imaging protocols for the region. You will train staff, oversee safety, and coordinate with physicians, staff and vendors to deliver high‑quality diagnostic information.

The role requires an associate degree in Radiologic Technology, 3–5 years of experience, ARRT and IEMA certifications, and may include travel to offsite locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent training.
• 3–5 years of related experience.
• May require on-call, weekend and holiday coverage.
• Travel to offsite locations as needed.
• ARRT(R) licensure and IEMA certification; CPR required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement regional imaging protocols with leadership.
• Educate and supervise staff; act as Clinical Instructor.
• Oversee safety protocols and quality for the modality.
• Liaise between equipment vendor, physicians and staff.
• Perform technical procedures with independent judgment.

About the Job

In this role the X-Ray Technical Specialist, in collaboration with the Radiology Leadership, including Physician Leader(s), functions as the technical "subject matter expert". This position is charged with the development & implementation of all clinical imaging protocols for the region. The X-Ray Technical Specialist acts as the educator/super trainer for all staff, Clinical Instructor, oversees all Safety protocols and all research projects, directs quality for the modality, and serves as a liaison between the equipment vendor, physicians, & staff. In addition, this person performs technical procedures, applying modality specific techniques that require independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative to provide the physician with the highest quality of diagnostic information.

What you'll need

• Associate degree; or equivalent training acquired via work experience or education
• Specific Degree(s): Radiologic Technology; Radiology Technologist- AMA approved program
• 3-5 years of previous job‑related experience
• May require on‑call, weekend, holiday and emergency coverage as department needs warrant.
• Requires travelling to offsite locations as needed
  

Licensure/Certifications

Required:

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologist R.T.(R)(ARRT) (ARRT) Approved AMA program
• Illinois Emergency Management Agency Certification (IEMA)
• CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) from American Heart Association

Annual Salary Range: $35.00 - 59.00

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
