Job summary

City of Sioux City Wastewater Treatment Plant is seeking an Operations Supervisor to join and lead our operations team. Under the general direction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager, the role organizes, plans, and supervises wastewater treatment plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and regulatory-compliant operation of the facilities.

Must possess a valid driver’s license at hire and Iowa DNR Grade III certification, with Grade IV required within 24 months.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in physical or biological sciences, sanitary, chemical or mechanical engineering and two to four years of full time work experience in wastewater treatment including one year of supervisory experience.
• Graduation from an accredited area college with an Associate’s degree in physical or biological sciences or engineering and four or more years experience in sewage treatment operations and administration including two years of supervisory experience.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skill and abilities.

Job description

City of Sioux City Wastewater Treatment Plant is seeking an Operations Supervisor to join and lead our operations team.

Under the general direction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager, organizes, plans, and supervises wastewater treatment plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and regulatory-compliant operation of the wastewater treatment facilities. Performs related work as required.
Special Requirements: Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of hire. Must possess a minimum of an Iowa DNR Wastewater Treatment Grade III State certification. Iowa DNR Wastewater Treatment Grade IV certification required within 24 months of hire.

Alternatively, an equivalent level of certification issued by another state may be accepted with written proof from the state of Iowa that such certification is transferable to the State of Iowa.
