Position Summary The Digital Coordinator is responsible for expanding the organization's reach, relevance, and impact across digital platforms while strengthening audience habits and engagement. This position serves as the primary driver of digital storytelling, content distribution, audience development, and digital product growth, ensuring that the organization's journalism and programming reach audiences where they increasingly consume media.

The role focuses on attracting and retaining new listeners and supporters, increasing daily engagement through newsletters, podcasts, social media, photo, video, and web content. Working collaboratively with newsroom, programming, and central Marketing & Communications staff, this position creates and repurposes existing content into compelling digital experiences that execute strategic opportunities for audience growth.

Duties/Responsibilities
Digital Content Production & Storytelling
  • Produce, shoot, edit, and publish vertical and horizontal video content for social media, website, podcasts, and other digital platforms.
  • Create visual companion content for feature stories, interviews, and special projects.
  • Capture photography and visual assets to support digital news stories and audience engagement efforts.
  • Repurpose broadcast and newsroom content into engaging digital formats.
  • Pitch, develop, and execute original digital storytelling initiatives.
  • Identify innovative ways to extend the reach and impact of existing programming through digital channels

Newsletter & Audience Habit Development
  • Curate and produce a daily email newsletter featuring news, features, and organizational content.
  • Develop newsletter strategies that increase open rates, engagement, and audience retention.
  • Develop strategies to increase newsletter subscriptions
  • Create audience engagement initiatives that encourage daily interaction with organizational content.
  • Support strategies that strengthen audience loyalty and build future donor pipelines.
  • Monitor newsletter performance metrics and recommend improvements.

Podcast Production & Development
  • Collaborate with programming staff to produce and distribute a daily news podcast.
  • Manage and maintain existing podcast offerings, including publishing schedules and platform distribution.
  • Assist in developing new podcast concepts, series, and segments.
  • Monitor podcast performance and audience trends to support growth initiatives.
  • Ensure podcast content aligns with organizational goals and audience development strategies.

Social Media Management & Audience Growth
  • Manage and update social media platforms with timely news, programming highlights, and audience engagement content.
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase digital reach, audience growth, and brand awareness.
  • Create platform-specific content that supports audience acquisition and retention.
  • Monitor social media analytics and adjust content strategies based on performance.
  • Engage with audiences and identify emerging digital trends and opportunities.
  • Consult and Strategize with Central MarComm Social Media Team

Website Management & Digital Publishing
  • Maintain and update website content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and timeliness.
  • Publish daily news stories, feature content, and program-related materials.
  • Ensure digital content is optimized for user experience, accessibility, and discoverability.
  • Coordinate with editorial and programming staff to maintain a consistent digital presence.

Digital Strategy, Innovation & Revenue Support
  • Collaborate with leadership and the Traffic Manager to explore and develop digital underwriting opportunities.
  • Research, recommend, and implement strategies that expand audience reach and engagement.
  • Identify emerging platforms, technologies, and content opportunities.
  • Contribute to organizational digital growth plans and audience development initiatives.
  • Track digital performance metrics and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Graphic Design
  • Assist in creating graphics for new shows/events/podcasts/segments, collaborating with supervisor and central MarComm Design Team as required.
  • Create graphics for website and social media to support programming and organizational communications.
