Job summary

University of Pikeville in Kentucky is seeking KYCOM Tutor for entry-level tutoring across approved subjects (C, P, CT, CTR, TW, L, T). You will support KYCOM students with clear explanations and study strategies, guiding them toward independent learning.

Requirements: be a current KYCOM student with a B or better in tutored course; strong communication, rapport-building, and organized note-taking. Schedule varies; 10 positions available; pay rate $15.00 per hour; on-site in Coal Building.

Qualifications

  • Must be a current KYCOM student with a minimum grade of 'B' in the course tutored.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to establish rapport quickly.
  • Willingness to engage in professional development and adhere to FERPA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual tutoring sessions in approved subjects – C, P, CT, CTR
  • Guide students to become independent learners – C, TW, CT, CSD, L
  • Assist students in mastering concepts, applying course material, and developing effective study strategies – CT, CSD, TW, P, C
  • Encourage systematic approaches to studying for academic success – CT, CSD, L, C
  • Use respectful, positive communication with diverse students, faculty, and staff – C, CTR, P, TW
  • Maintain consistent communication with Tutoring Supervisor – C, TW, P
  • Abide by FERPA regulations and maintain confidentiality – P, C, CTR
  • Demonstrate organized note-taking skills – T, P, CSD
  • Establish positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff – CTR, TW, C, L
  • Participate in professional development opportunities – CSD, P, L, T

Provide tutoring services to KYCOM students in approved subjects, facilitating academic success and promoting effective study strategies. Ideal for KYCOM students with strong communication skills and a passion for helping peers succeed.

Responsibilities And Career Competencies
