Versant is hiring a Writing Associate Producer for MS NOW's State of Play, a weekday show airing 11 AM–12 PM ET. You will research, write, and produce daily segments, coordinating with senior producers and creating on-screen visuals for multiple platforms.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 3+ years in journalism, with strong writing and editing skills in American politics, history, and global news. NY-based, with flexible hours under deadline pressure.

MS NOW is hiring a Writing Associate Producer for the new weekday show, State of Play, airing 11AM - 12PM ET on Monday through Friday with hos Peter Alexander.

This position is represented by the Writers Guild of America East.

Responsibilities:

• Research, report and write daily segments
• Determine video and sound for assigned segments
• Communicate daily story development with senior producer
• Research, write and edit MS NOW's lower-third banner chyrons, the "front page" of MS NOW's coverage
• Lead production of segments for digital platforms, including YouTube, social media & MSNOW DTC products
• Pitch story ideas
• Producer other vital on-screen content for MS NOW's weekend programming
• Must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience in some form of journalism required (i.e. cable or network news, website, newspaper)
• Strong writing skills and knowledge of American politics, American history, and global news
• Strong research and reporting skills

Desired Qualifications:

• Possess ability to develop story ideas, research and plan segments
• Ability to work with graphics and video elements
• Exceptional editorial skills: Ability to recognize stories with high potential for provocative, compelling television
• Knowledge of current events, politics and pop culture
• Wide-range reader of news, including op-eds
• Edit room experience and breaking news experience is preferred
• Proficient in both tape and desktop editing
• Candidate should be able to deal with daily script deadline pressure

Additional Job Requirements:

• Must be willing to work in New York, NY
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news

Salary range: $75,000 - $80,000.
