VERSANT’s MS NOW is seeking a Segment Producer for our newsroom in New York. You will craft daily segments, draft questions for interviews, and select video and sound to accompany stories for linear and digital audiences.

This role requires strong editorial judgment, keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, including live control room duties and collaborative work on digital content.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong writing and knowledge of American politics.
• Strong research and reporting skills.
• At least 5 years of journalism experience (cable/network news, website, or newspaper).
• Ability to handle daily script deadlines.

Job Description

MS NOW is seeking a Segment Producer to join our newsroom. If you’re passionate about politics and breaking news and thrive in fast-paced environments, this role is for you. The position requires strong editorial judgment, attention to detail, and a keen eye for timely, impactful storytelling across linear and digital platforms.

Our Segment Productions are dedicated to specific show teams across the MS NOW newsroom and will be dedicated to working on a specific schedule.

Responsibilities could include but are not limited to:

• Research, report and write daily segments.
• Write and suggest interview questions for each segment.
• Determine video and sound for assigned segments.
• Communicate daily story development with senior producer.
• Be in control room during airing of live segment.
• Work on content for digital platforms, social media and MS NOW’s DTC products.
• Pitch story ideas.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Strong writing skills and knowledge of American politics
• Strong research and reporting skills
• At least 5 years of experience in some form of journalism required (i.e. cable or network news, website, newspaper)
• Candidate should be able to deal with daily script deadline pressure

Desired Qualifications:

• Possess ability to develop story ideas, research, and plan segments
• Ability to "book" guests, and work with graphics and video elements
• Exceptional editorial skills: Ability to recognize stories with high potential for provocative, compelling television
• Knowledge of current events, politics, and pop culture
• Wide-range reader of news, including op-eds
• Proficient in both tape and desktop editing
• Edit room experience and breaking news experience is preferred

Additional Job Requirements:

• Must be willing to work in New York, NY
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news

Salary Range: $93,000 - $110,000
