Job summary

Durham County Council is seeking a dedicated Wraparound Care assistant for Wolsingham Primary School in County Durham. The role offers term-time hours (11.25 per week) from 15:15 to 17:30, Monday to Friday, starting 2 November 2026. You will create a safe, engaging environment after school and coordinate with parents and staff.

Experience with children in play or school settings is essential. A DBS check will be required; a commitment to safeguarding and health and safety is expected.

Required to start Monday 2nd November 2026. 11.25 hours per week, Mon-Fri, 15:15 – 17:30, term time only

We are looking for a dedicated and creative Wraparound Care assistant to join the thriving wraparound care provision at our friendly and welcoming primary school. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children at the end of the school day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging activities that cater to a range of interests and age groups
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all children attending the club
  • Supervise and support children’s play, social interactions, and well-being
  • Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and external agencies as needed
  • Maintain health and safety standards and safeguarding procedures at all times

Standard term time only pay is calculated on the basis of the following
  • Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus
  • Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
  • Individual leave entitlement – 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)

Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave. For example:

Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service: 38 weeks (term time) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 45 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service: 38 weeks (term time) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 46 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.
