Job summary

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in Alabama.
• Wound care or treatment nursing experience preferred.
• Willing to train and provide wound care certification at facility’s expense.
• Wound care certification is a plus.
• Long-term care experience preferred.
• Strong assessment, documentation, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess residents for wound care and follow up to evaluate outcomes.
• Perform and document treatments according to physician orders, policies, and standards of care.
• Provide treatment and management of wounds, ostomies, pressure injuries, skin tears, and breakdown related to incontinence.
• Monitor residents for changes in skin integrity and identify risks for skin breakdown and other complications.
• Communicate resident needs, changes in condition, and treatment outcomes with nursing staff and interdisciplinary team.
• Coordinate treatments with residents’ daily schedules and plans of care.
• Ensure required documentation is completed accurately and timely.
• Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and education related to wound prevention and treatment.
• Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to promote continuity and quality of resident care.
