Job summary

UW Health in northern Illinois is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join a Clinical Nurse Specialist–style role focused on wound care across inpatient and outpatient settings. The position blends advanced clinical practice with education, consultation, and quality improvement to promote optimal wound healing and skin integrity outcomes.

The ideal candidate holds an NP Master's or Doctorate, IL licensure, and national certification in Adult-Gerontology or Family NP, with WOCN/WCC/CWS

Qualifications

Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Current Illinois NP licensure or ability to obtain upon hire.
National certification as Adult-Gerontology or Family NP.
WOCN/WCC/CWS wound care certification preferred.
BLS/ACLS certification required.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive wound assessments and manage complex wounds across care settings.
Develop evidence-based treatment plans and perform wound procedures including debridement.
Order and interpret wound-related diagnostics and labs; provide inpatient consultations.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing, therapy, nutrition and care teams.
Lead education, mentorship, and competency development for staff.
Support quality improvement initiatives and wound care policy development.
