Job summary

Northwestern Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to work in our Healogics Wound Care department. This Advanced Practice Provider will be working a mix of inpatient and outpatient.

Location involves a Hospital Outpatient Ambulatory Clinic with some inpatient rounding at CDH and Marianjoy. The role requires acute care certification for APRNs and IL licensure for RN and APRN with credentialing through NM MSO.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited nursing school/college OR master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
• Acute care certification required for APRNs (inpatient experience as an NP will be considered in lieu of acute care certification).
• Current license as a Registered Nurse in Illinois. Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Illinois. Certification as an APRN by a national certifying body as approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APRN Board.
• Privileged and credentialed through Northwestern Medicine MSO.
• CPR – BLS from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities which may include diagnosis and management of health problems.
• Responsible for health outcomes of an assigned patient population.
• Confers with collaborating physician and other health professionals.
• Develops educational systems for patients, families and staff.
• Mentors graduate students in advanced practice and patient care.
• Participates in quality improvement and/or research pertinent to area of expertise.
• Conducts comprehensive appraisals of patients' health status and histories.
• Provides direct clinical care to patients.
• Prescribes/orders medications, therapies; orders/interprets labs/x-rays and procedures.
• Evaluates patients to determine need for further care.
• Documents in medical records all care and education provided.
• Refers to other disciplines as appropriate.
