First Baptist Church of Laurel, Mississippi, is seeking a Worship Pastor to lead and develop a vibrant worship ministry who has a passion for shepherding people and cultivating Christ-centered worship.

We are a multigenerational Southern Baptist congregation committed to Biblical teaching, authentic worship, intentional discipleship, and faithful outreach.

We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just want to lead songs, but who also wants to shepherd our church family. We are also seeking a leader who can help guide a blended worship style that thoughtfully incorporates both contemporary worship songs and older hymns, creating services that engage and connect across generations.

About the Church

Founded in 1884, First Baptist Church of Laurel has a rich legacy of faithful ministry spanning well over a century. Since 1901, the church has been located on Fifth Street in downtown Laurel, maintaining a visible and active presence in the very heart of the community.

While our buildings have changed over the years, our identity has not. First Baptist Laurel has never been defined by brick and mortar, but by a people united in faith and committed to the mission of Jesus Christ.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, and shepherd weekly worship services at the church.
• Collaborate with pastoral staff to ensure worship elements support the message and overall service vision.
• Provide spiritual leadership to the worship team through prayer, discipleship, and relational care.
• Model biblical character and shepherd volunteers with compassion and integrity.
• Participate in regular pastoral rhythms, meetings, and ministry efforts.
• Recruit, equip, and empower volunteers for worship ministry roles.
• Foster a healthy, unified culture among the worship ministry.

Qualifications

• Meet the biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9, demonstrating integrity, self‑control, humility, and a life above reproach.
• Model a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ in attitude, speech, and actions.
• Demonstrated musical proficiency (vocals and/or instruments).
• Strong pastoral heart with a shepherding mindset.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience building and leading volunteer teams.
