Job summary

Bon Air United Methodist Church in Richmond, VA, seeks a worship accompanist to supporting the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services. You will provide piano and/or organ accompaniment, select appropriate music for liturgy, and collaborate with the chancel choir and instrumentalists.

The role requires sight-reading, strong musicality, and the ability to work with clergy and volunteers to facilitate meaningful worship experiences. This is a part-time, on-site position with occasional special services.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in piano and/or organ.
• Ability to sight-read music.
• Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, choir, and other musicians.
• Strong sense of musicality and sensitivity to worship flow.

About Us

Bon Air is looking for a Christ-centered accompanist who can work with our diverse music ministry team of chancel choir, bell choir, brass ensemble, and children’s choir to connect people to God and God’s presence.

Responsibilities

• Provide piano and/or organ music for the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning worship service and special services (e.g., Christmas Eve, Easter, Good Friday).
• Select appropriate music for the Prelude, Offertory, Communion, and Postlude.
• Accompany the choir and other special music (e.g., soloists, instrumentalists, ensembles) during rehearsals and services.
• Practice as needed.
• Maintain the pianos and organ in good working condition, reporting any issues.
• Attend occasional worship and staff meetings at the Pastor’s request.

Compensation

Annual Salary Ranges commensurate with skills and experience:
