Job summary

Gayton Baptist Church in Richmond, VA is seeking a piano accompanist to provide keyboard accompaniment for the worship band and choir during weekly rehearsals and Sunday services. The role includes accompanying special services and collaborating with the Worship Leader and team to coordinate worship elements.

The ideal candidate will play a variety of styles, from traditional hymns to contemporary worship, and be available for weddings/funerals with additional compensation.

Qualifications

• Proficiency on piano.
• Strong sight-reading skills and experience accompanying choirs and congregational singing.
• Familiarity with various church music styles (traditional and contemporary).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, volunteers, and the congregation.
• A positive and encouraging team player who can help foster a harmonious musical environment.
• A commitment to the vision and spiritual life of the congregation.

Responsibilities

• Provide keyboard accompaniment (piano) for the worship band and choir for weekly rehearsals and Sunday worship services
• Accompanying music groups for special services (e.g., Christmas Eve, Easter, etc.)
• Collaborating with the Worship Leader and worship team to coordinate worship elements
• Being prepared to play a variety of musical styles, including traditional hymns, anthems, and contemporary worship songs
• Availability to play for weddings and funerals, at your discretion, with additional compensation provided
