Westtown School is seeking a part-time, long-term substitute Upper School Religious Studies teacher to join our independent, Quaker-inspired campus near West Chester, PA. The role focuses on World Religions 1 and World Religions 2 with collaboration in a team-based department.

The ideal candidate will bring 3–5 years of classroom teaching experience, a BA/BS, and a strong commitment to inclusive education and social justice within a nondevotional academic framework.

Qualifications

• BA or BS degree required; advanced seminary or religious studies degree preferred.
• 3–5 years of relevant classroom teaching experience, preferably in an independent school.
• Strong character with a team-oriented spirit, and the ability to connect meaningfully with students in a diverse community.
• Deep commitment to an inclusive school community grounded in cultural competence, social justice, and respect for all voices.
• Strong alignment with Westtown School's Quaker values and mission.

Responsabilités

• Develops lessons and hands-on learning activities promoting problem-solving, creative and critical thinking, collaboration, and effective communication; encourages risk-taking in learning.
• Engages students in the classroom through group work, project-based learning, exploration, questioning, discussion, and cooperative teaching techniques.
• Communicates effectively with colleagues, administrators, parents, and students.

• Integrates technology into teaching strategies and uses the learning management system.
