Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is committed to addressing the fundamental needs of our customers by continuously evolving our solutions. We are seeking a Product Owner to join our Workload Automation team in Plano, TX, where you will collaborate closely with R&D to deliver enhancements and new capabilities to a suite of workload automation programs that run the world's largest enterprises. These solutions orchestrate workflows to ensure applications such as payroll get processed on time, financial institutions start the morning with the correct balance, and so forth.
The Product Owner (PO) at Broadcom serves as the “glue code” between Product Manager (PM) and the Development Team, turning high‑level strategic goals into concrete outcomes and user stories ready for completion. The PO works on‑site within the R&D scrum teams, ensures that the team delivers validated use cases, and leads customer engagement and validation efforts.
Product Owner Core Responsibilities
- Works closely with R&D development teams to maximize the value delivered to customers
- Understands how the Enterprise backlog model operates with Epics, Capabilities, Features, and Stories
- Effectively communicates with both internal and external stakeholders
- Establishes, prioritizes, and sequences backlog items based on defined strategies, events, and dependencies with other teams
- Ensures common understanding of backlog items, their acceptance criteria, and alignment on definition of done with R&D scrum teams
- Coordinates with other Product Owners and cross‑functional roles throughout the development and delivery process
- Independently resolves complex project issues and challenges
Team Backlog Ownership
- Maintains a prioritized, transparent, and straightforward backlog that aligns with product strategy and maximizes product value
- Refines backlog items with R&D teams to reach a common understanding with sufficient detail for the team to work on for the current and next iteration
Cross‑Team and Management Reporting
- Maintains cadence across many teams globally; ensures inter‑team and cross‑team dependencies, risks, and mitigation are communicated
- Raises information to enable management by exception and is accountable for communication with peers and solution leadership
- Raises dependencies and potential derailers early so they can be addressed without impacting the delivery schedule
- Regularly leads projects requiring coordination with other functions or teams while providing guidance to less experienced team members
- Leads customer engagement, iterating on solutions with customer feedback and visits to observe users in their environment whenever possible
- Views Sprint Reviews and industry conferences as opportunities for stakeholder engagement and value showcase
- Manages support cases escalated to development and drives them to completion
- Collaborates closely with the Product Manager to create product roadmaps, make strategy adjustments, and drive overall product success
- Ensures alignment between market research, competitive activity, and identified customer needs as overseen by the Product Manager
- Works with development teams (developers, architects, QA, Information Engineers, UX, and R&D management) to prioritize, refine, and deliver high‑business‑value items
- Represents the voice of customers and internal stakeholders towards the team
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of related experience or Master’s degree with 6+ years of related experience
- Agile Product Ownership: Proven ability to own, prioritize, and groom a product backlog while translating high‑level roadmap items into actionable User Stories and Enablers
- Strategic Execution: Experience breaking down complex technical requirements into concrete outcomes with clear Acceptance Criteria
- Leadership Experience: Demonstrated ability to influence cross‑functional teams without direct authority, fostering a high‑performance culture focused on quality and delivery
- Expert Stakeholder Management: Proven success in managing complex relationships with diverse stakeholders including customers, executive leadership, and engineering; able to navigate competing priorities and communicate the rationale behind product decisions
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to bridge the gap between R&D engineering teams and business‑oriented Product Managers
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role
- Mainframe Ecosystem Literacy: Foundational knowledge of the z/OS environment, including familiarity with TSO/ISPF and comfort with JCL and general programming to understand job failures or resource constraints
- Direct experience with using or managing mainframe schedulers or Workload Automation products (Experience with CA 7 and/or Jobtrac a plus)
- Strong business acumen with the ability to perform impact analysis for missed batch windows and translate business requirements into jobs run in workload schedulers

Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is $104,100 - $166,500.
This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
