Job summary

Virginia Western Community College is seeking a part-time Adjunct Faculty member to teach Plumbing in the evenings and online, following the NCCER curriculum for levels 1–4. In this role you will mentor students toward NCCER credentials and journeyman credit.

The position is adjunct, course-by-course, semester-based, with pay per hour and no telework options. Adjunct faculty participate in curriculum, exams, and occasional agency or state emergency responses as needed.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of plumbing work experience with NCCER plumbing levels 1–4 credentialing.
• Strong oral and written communication; ability to write syllabi and exams; develop curriculum and assessments.

Job Overview

Responsibilities

• Teach students plumbing concepts following the NCCER Curriculum for Plumbing levels 1‑4.
• Prepare students to obtain NCCER credentials related to plumbing and to gain credit toward their journeyman license.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned and assist the agency or state government if an emergency declaration is issued by the governor.

Required Qualifications (KSA’s)

• 3‑5 years of occupational experience in plumbing work and the ability to be credentialed as an NCCER instructor for plumbing levels 1‑4.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams; develop curriculum and assessments; work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.

Additional Considerations

• Experience teaching adult learners.
• Journeyman’s or Master Level license in the related field.

Employment Details

Pay: $35‑$42 per hour. Position is part‑time, no telework options. Salary based on work schedule (evening and online).
