Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) is seeking an adjunct professor to teach healthcare courses across Nurse Aide, Phlebotomy, and related programs on-site in Augusta, VA. The position supports hands-on labs, exam prep, and competency-based instruction in a flexible weekday/weekend schedule.

Ideal candidates demonstrate subject-matter expertise, professional healthcare experience, and the ability to teach in classroom, hybrid, and online formats, with strong communication skills and a commitment

• Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience in the subject area
• Industry certifications where required by accreditation
• Passion for healthcare and helping others learn
• Ability to use various forms of technology, such as Microsoft Office and lab equipment, and to learn new ones
• Ability to teach in classroom, hybrid, and online formats when applicable
• Strong communication skills – both written and verbal, to explain complex information so that it is understood
• Ability to travel to off-site locations to provide clinical instruction
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds

Adjunct Professor – 01011, Workforce Solutions Healthcare Instructors, Blue Ridge Community College (Division: Blue Ridge Community College). FLSA Exempt, Pay Band UG, Position Number 291A0916, located in Augusta, VA.

Work Schedule

Varies per role. Workforce classes are offered during weekdays, weekday evenings, and weekends, depending on need.

Skills

Adjunct instructors are needed to train others in the healthcare field. Qualified to teach in one or more of the following areas:

• Nurse Aide
• Medication Aide
• Patient Care Technician
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
• Phlebotomy
• EKG
• Professional Coder
• Sterile Processing
• Medical Terminology
• PSR (Patient Service Representative) courses
• Other programs as needed

Responsibilities

• Course instruction
• Providing hands‑on skills training in clinical labs, when applicable

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned and to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
