Job Description:

The Adjunct Workforce Instructor will serve as an instructor for the Workforce Welding Program. This position is responsible for delivering both classroom and hands-on instruction that prepares students for entry-level welding careers.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, promote teamwork, emphasize workplace safety, and provide students with practical, industry-relevant training.

The successful candidate must be considered proficient in the welding industry or a related field. While prior teaching experience is beneficial, it is not required. Professional experience and relevant industry certifications are highly valued. Our students benefit most from learning alongside experienced professionals who can share real-world knowledge and best practices from the field.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, hands-on, and classroom instruction in all aspects of welding and shop safety.
  • Instruct students in the safe and proper use of hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Demonstrate industry best practices related to safety, quality, productivity, and preventive maintenance.
  • Develop students' workplace readiness skills, including teamwork, communication, problem-solving, reliability, and professional conduct.
  • Mentor and support students by providing constructive feedback and guidance throughout the program.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, student progress, and competency assessments.
  • Prepare students to submit pertinent weld bend tests.
  • Participate in instructor training, certification, and professional development activities as required.
Compensation

The hourly rate for this role is $70.00. The position is part-time and as such cannot exceed 29 hours per week and is not eligible for health or leave benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be proficient in the welding industry or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various welding processes such as shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored, or gas tungsten arc welding; basic welding concepts; knowledge of weld symbols, understand and able to follow welding procedure specifications; and able to read dimensions, understand tolerances, and do basic construction math.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and industry best practices.
  • Ability to demonstrate and supervise hands-on technical training activities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with equipment setup, operation, maintenance, and instructional demonstrations.
Additional Considerations:
  • Previous teaching, training, coaching, or mentoring experience, particularly in adult education or workforce development settings.
  • Associate degree, technical diploma, apprenticeship completion, or related credentials in welding.
  • American Welding Society certifications.
