South Plains Community Action Association is seeking a career specialist to guide customers toward self-sufficiency. You will register customers in WorkinTexas, share information on Workforce services, refer clients to jobs based on experience, and connect with employers to support hiring needs.
You will enter job orders in WIT, send job notifications, provide unemployment guidance, facilitate RESEA orientation, ensure services are recorded, and assist in the resource room with WIT applications,
The specialist will work with customers to provide direction in developing the best and quickest route to self-sufficiency. The specialist will be responsible for registering customers in WorkinTexas (WIT) and providing customers with information on all Workforce services. The specialist will refer customers to jobs base upon their experience and skill. The career specialist may contact employers to assist them with their hiring needs. The specialist may enter job orders into WorkinTexas on behalf of employers and may send out job notifications to customers. The specialist will provide basic unemployment information to individuals desiring to file for unemployment benefits. The specialist may facilitate the Reemployment Service (RESEA) Orientation and ensure that RESEA customers work applications are correctly entered into WIT. The specialist will ensure that all required services are entered in WIT for all customers. The specialist will assist customers in the resource room with completing their WIT applications, resumes and job searches using the resource room computers. The specialist will facilitate workshops.
A High Scholl diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred.
Ability to understand instruction without constant supervision is essential. Ability to work and communicate effectively with people from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds is essential.
