Role Description The Workers’ Compensation Attorney will handle a caseload of workers’ compensation matters from initial intake through resolution, including investigation, discovery, motions, hearings, trials, and appeals as appropriate. This full-time, on-site role is based in Tampa, FL and involves drafting pleadings, legal memoranda, settlement documents, and correspondence, as well as analyzing medical records and employment histories. The attorney will regularly appear at depositions, mediations, and administrative hearings, and communicate with clients, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and experts. The role includes developing case strategies, evaluating exposure and settlement options, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting to clients and carriers. The attorney will also support firm initiatives, collaborate with colleagues, and stay current on Florida workers’ compensation laws and regulations.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Florida, in good standing with The Florida Bar, with prior experience in workers’ compensation or insurance defense strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated litigation skills, including legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, conducting discovery, and representing clients in hearings, mediations, and trials.
• Strong analytical and case evaluation abilities, including reviewing medical records, employment files, and claim documentation to assess liability, exposure, and strategy.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to clients, claims professionals, and other stakeholders.
• Excellent organization and time management, including managing multiple cases and deadlines, maintaining accurate files, and using case management or practice management software.
• Commitment to ethical practice, client service, and collaborative work within a team-oriented insurance defense environment.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; prior experience in workers’ compensation, personal injury, or related insurance defense fields is a plus.
