Job summary

Socket.dev, a growing California law firm specializing in workers’ compensation and personal injury, is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Attorney with at least 1 year of CA workers’ compensation experience. This role is in-office in Oakland and includes case handling responsibilities as well as oversight of a team of case managers.

This is an excellent opportunity to advance into a leadership role while continuing to develop litigation skills.

Qualifications

  • Active California Bar license is required.
  • Minimum 1 year of workers’ compensation experience in California.
  • Strong knowledge of WCAB procedures and California labor code.
  • Prior supervision or mentoring of staff is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload while overseeing support staff.
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a full caseload of workers’ compensation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Negotiate and settlement of active cases.
  • Appear at hearings, conferences, depositions, and trials as required.
  • Supervise and provide direction to a team of case managers.
  • Review case manager work to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and proper case progression.
  • Communicate with clients, adjusters, opposing counsel, and medical providers.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and settlement documents.
  • Evaluate cases and lead settlement negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance with WCAB procedures, deadlines, and internal workflows.

Position Overview
