Job summary

University Orthopedics in Mansfield, MA is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Authorization Coordinator to obtain pre-authorization for diagnostics testing and surgical requests. You will develop relationships with case managers, adjusters, employers and vendors to ensure timely authorizations.

The role requires 2–3 years in a medical office or workers’ compensation setting, 1+ year of prior authorizations, strong communication, and proficiency with Excel and word processing.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent is required.
• 2-3 years relevant work experience in a medical office setting or related workers' compensation experience is required.
• 1+ year obtaining prior authorizations is required; orthopedic office experience is preferred.
• Must be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision and direction.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
• Knowledge of Excel and word processing applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with case managers, adjusters, employers, vendors.
• Obtain pre-authorization for all diagnostics and surgical requests.
• Understand the process and collaborate with Utilization Review.
• Handle phone triage, document patient questions, consult with medical providers, and verify demographics and insurance.
• Understand and apply workers’ compensation jurisdiction laws for Mass & RI.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager to meet department needs.
