Job summary

Government of the Virgin Islands is seeking a skilled administrator to collect premium receivables for the Worker's Compensation Trust Fund and locate delinquent employers for enforcement of insurance coverage.

The role includes auditing underwriting files, preparing compliance reports, and guiding employers through regulatory requirements, with collaboration across management and with regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Worker’s Compensation insurance regulations.
• Knowledge of laws governing Worker's Compensation Insurance.
• Knowledge of local and federal regulations, industry standards, and underwriting principles and practices.
• Knowledge of internal and external guidelines governing underwriting practices and regulatory standards.
• Knowledge of effective communication strategies that underwriters must follow when interacting with clients, brokers, and regulatory bodies.
• Knowledge of the training requirements to keep underwriters updated on industry standards.
• Knowledge of the audit processes to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
• Skill in using data entry systems and office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Skill in record-keeping.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Locate delinquent employers for the purpose of collecting overdue accounts.
• Check businesses for compliance with Worker's Compensation insurance coverage.
• Represent the department in court when cases are assigned.
• Prepare reports on compliance metrics and present findings to the Director.
• Provide assistance in responding to regulatory inquiries and audits.
• Collaborate with management to enforce underwriting guidelines.
• Conduct regular audits of underwriting files.
• Work with employers to guide on compliance requirements.
