Job summary

Simon Property Group's Arizona Mills location seeks a skilled maintenance technician responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems. You will inspect facilities, perform minor repairs, operate maintenance equipment, and support event setup while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance at the mall.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED, 2–3 years maintenance experience, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds;

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; Technical School certifications and/or training preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of building maintenance experience performing carpentry, HVAC, electrical, mechanical and plumbing functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, plans and schematic drawings and comprehend instructions.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely inspects the facility, troubleshoots and makes repairs to the mechanical, electrical, air conditioning and plumbing systems, as well as any structural elements on the property.
  • Performs a variety of maintenance/minor repair activities on the interior/exterior areas of the property including painting, drywall, structural elements, parking lot and sidewalks, plumbing repairs, drain clearance and interior/exterior lighting.
  • Operates a variety of equipment to perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs and maintain cleanliness of the property.
  • Assists other departments with event setup, placement and repair of carts.
  • Performs the job in accordance with all applicable standards, policies and regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSHA) to promote a safe working environment.
  • Schedules and performs preventive maintenance programs as assigned by management.
  • Ensures appropriate inventory systems, records, files, material safety data sheets, supplies, equipment and tools are maintained.
  • Periodically inspects air handling units, tightens or replaces belts, replaces filters and greases components.
  • Maintains logs to document activity.

Primary Purpose: This position is accountable for troubleshooting, repairs and performing preventive maintenance relative to the mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing systems and physical structural elements of the center.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Routinely inspects the facility, troubleshoots and makes repairs to the mechanical, electrical, air conditioning and plumbing systems, as well as any structural elements on the property.
  • Performs a variety of maintenance/minor repair activities on the interior/exterior areas of the property including painting, drywall, structural elements, parking lot and sidewalks, plumbing repairs, drain clearance and interior/exterior lighting (lamp, fuse, ballast replacement).
  • Operates a variety of equipment to perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs and maintain cleanliness of the property.
  • Assists other departments (e.g., Marketing, Local Leasing) with event setup, placement and repair of carts.
  • Performs the job in accordance with all applicable standards, policies and regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSHA) to promote a safe working environment.
  • Schedules and performs preventive maintenance programs as assigned by management.
  • Ensures appropriate inventory systems, records, files, material safety data sheets, supplies, equipment and tools are maintained.
  • Periodically inspects air handling units, tightens or replaces belts, replaces filters and greases components.
  • Maintains logs to document activity.
  • Performs exterior custodial duties as needed, including sweeping and wet mopping sidewalks, operating steam cleaners and hand vacuums.
  • Gathers trash, empties receptacles, operates the compactor and turns trash carts.
  • May perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; Technical School certifications and/or training preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of building maintenance experience performing carpentry, HVAC, electrical, mechanical and plumbing functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, plans and schematic drawings and comprehend instructions.
  • Ability to effectively present information to departmental management, employees, tenants and outside contacts.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect information and establish facts.
  • Proficiency in paint, electrical, plumbing and drywall work.
  • Self‑starter with ability to work independently.
  • Capability to diagnose problems on equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of safety rules, hazards and application of accident prevention measures.
  • Basic knowledge of fire protection hydraulic systems and fire protection alarm systems.
  • Ability to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
