Job summary

Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Technician to join our facilities team. You will perform essential outdoor upkeep across GTCC campuses to ensure safe, attractive, and functional spaces for students, staff, and visitors.

Required: a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of grounds maintenance experience. Knowledge of grounds practices and equipment operation, including trucks and powered equipment, is essential.

The jobholder performs a variety of essential grounds maintenance activities at all GTCC campus locations providing a safe, attractive, and functional site for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Min Salary $35,456.72

Mid Salary $39,888.81 - We offer a competitive salary package that will be determined based on the candidate's experience level and qualifications related to the job. Compensation will be commensurate with your level of experience.

• 1 year grounds maintenance experience including mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, pruning, mulching, turf care, landscape installation, grounds equipment operation etc.

Experience Preferred

KSA Required

• Knowledge of grounds maintenance practices.
• Knowledge of grounds equipment operation, care, and maintenance.
• Skill in the operation of trucks, vans, and powered equipment.
• Ability to learn the care requirements of campus lawns, plants, and trees.
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, staff, supervisors, students, and the general public.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy bulky objects up to 70 pounds.
• Ability to walk, kneel, stoop, and crawl.
• Ability to work at times other than scheduled hours, on call when necessary.
• Ability to work in inclement weather, i.e. snow and ice removal, storm damage, etc.
• Ability to take directions, follow instructions, and independently accomplish tasks with minimum supervision.

KSA Preferred

• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
