Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive attitude toward all students and staff.
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of foods following standardized recipes and menus.
  • Set up food serving lines and serve meals and beverages.
  • Store food and supplies and assist in inventories.
  • Accept and count money, tickets, or tokens for food and beverages; record transactions.
  • Wash, sanitize, and store dishes and utensils; clean counters, tables, and floors.
  • Operate and clean all kitchen equipment.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Follow safety and sanitation rules when handling food and using equipment.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Assist new Food and Nutrition Services employees or volunteers in becoming familiar with assignments.
  • Comply with all requirements of the district Food and Nutrition Services programs.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Food Handler Certification or the ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year of experience in commercial or institutional food service.

Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; organizational and management skills; mathematical skills.
  • Manual dexterity skills to shred, chop, assemble, and mix food items.
  • Record keeping and cash registration skills.
  • Basic computer skills and/or the ability to be trained in basic computer skills to operate District electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of general policies and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
  • Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.

  • Accept and count money, tickets, or tokens for food and beverages served; record transactions; and maintain accountability of sales.
  • Wash, sanitize, and store dishes and utensils; scrub and sanitize counters and tables; mop floors; and dispose of wastes properly.
  • Operate and clean all kitchen equipment.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Follow safety and sanitation rules at all times when handling food and using equipment.
  • Adhere to safety regulations/guidelines.
  • May assist new Food and Nutrition Services employees, student employees, or volunteers in becoming familiar with their assignments.
  • Comply with all requirements of the local, state, and federal Food and Nutrition Services programs, including attendance at all District food service trainings.
