Requirements
  • Ability to speak, read and understand the English language.
  • Possess basic math skills; be able to work with currency, in a quick and accurate manner.
  • Free of communicable diseases.
  • Be physically capable of performing assigned duties. Frequently required to lift up to 60-lbs, work with machinery, bend, stoop and reach above shoulder level. Occasionally required to climb ladders, ramps and stairs. Continuous walking and standing.
  • Ability to obtain a Food Handler's Certification within 60 days of employment.

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year.

Essential Functions
  • Check job assignment sheet for daily duties.
  • Prepare serving line for lunch or breakfast service. Prepare and cook food for lunch or breakfast service.
  • Check quality, temperature and appearance of food, reporting any problems to manager.
  • Serve food from station on serving line using prescribed method of service. Requires using appropriate utensils for proper portion control.
  • Complete all assignments by end of shift. Respond to changes in work load as assigned by manager.
  • Use disposable gloves and hair coverings.
  • Perform dish room duties as assigned, including loading and unloading dishes between various work stations.
  • Clean and sanitize station before leaving area and when needed with approved cleaning solution. Requires working with chemicals approved by the Food Service Department.
  • Implement the requirements of the National School Lunch Program.
  • Participate in special food service promotions.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities.
  • Support the Food Service Department with regular and reliable attendance.
  • Clean and maintain the kitchen and serving areas according to instructions. Includes: sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and sanitizing equipment.
  • Cashier, count money and complete cashier reports. Requires special training which will be provided.
  • Unload food from delivery bins or pallets and place in designated storage area. Includes lifting, moving and transporting items weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Comply with employee standards of conduct (dress code, personal appearance, behavior and be ready to work at scheduled starting time) as specified in the Food Service Handbook.
  • Attend the Sanitation Certification Class required by departmental guidelines. Comply with food handling procedures established by the Food Service Department (refer to the Food Service Handbook Appendix and training programs).
  • The District reserves the right to require any employee to perform his/her regular duties at any facility owned or operated by the District for the purpose of conducting its regular business. Employees may be assigned as substitutes on a temporary or permanent basis as dictated by the needs of the District. Refusal to accept an assignment to a designated facility will be interpreted as a resignation on the part of the employee.
