Job summary

TrulyHired is seeking a School District Food Service Worker in Florida. You will prepare and serve meals, set up serving lines, handle cash transactions, and maintain clean, organized work areas in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent and a valid Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain within the first year). Preferred: 1 year of experience in commercial or institutional food service.

  • Accept and count money, tickets, or tokens; record transactions; maintain sales accountability.
  • Wash, sanitize, and store dishes; keep counters, tables, and floors clean.
  • Operate and clean kitchen equipment; ensure safety and sanitation at all times.
  • Comply with all Food and Nutrition Services program requirements and trainings.
  • Assist new staff or volunteers in familiarizing with assignments.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Food Handler Certification or the ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year of experience in commercial or institutional food service.

Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; organizational and management skills; mathematical skills.
  • Manual dexterity skills to shred, chop, assemble, and mix food items.
  • Record keeping and cash registration skills.
  • Basic computer skills and/or the ability to be trained in basic computer skills to operate District electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of general policies and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
  • Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.

  • Keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Follow safety and sanitation rules at all times when handling food and using equipment.
  • Adhere to safety regulations/guidelines.
  • May assist new Food and Nutrition Services employees, student employees, or volunteers in becoming familiar with their assignments.
  • Comply with all requirements of the local, state, and federal Food and Nutrition Services programs, including attendance at all District food service trainings.
