Job summary

OpenAI is hiring a Workday Engineer to design, build, and operate HR systems powering critical people workflows. This highly technical role blends Workday expertise with engineering fluency to create reliable integrations, improve architecture, and automate workflows across payroll, benefits, recruiting, and case management.

You'll connect Workday to internal tools and external platforms, work in Git-based environments, and contribute to secure, scalable, and maintainable systems.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in Workday engineering or adjacent systems
• Hands-on experience with Workday technologies such as EIB, Studio, Cloud Connect, Extend, reporting, security
• Track record of building automation, scripting, debugging, and systems design
• Experience beyond admin/configuration, in automation and architecture
• Comfort with Git-based development practices and code reviews
• Fluency with CLI-based workflows and developer tools
• Experience designing and supporting reliable production integrations with strong security and data quality
• Ability to work with both technical and non-technical partners

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Workday integrations, apps, and workflow automations
• Improve reliability, quality, and scalability of People systems
• Connect Workday with internal platforms, vendors, and AI-powered tooling
• Design durable technical solutions combining HR data, automation, and orchestration
• Use Git-based development practices, code reviews, and change management
• Leverage CLI-based tools to build, test, troubleshoot, and support production systems
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Set and raise observability and security standards across the People systems stack
