Qualifications

• Professional experience developing and maintaining WordPress websites with PHP, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience creating custom post types, Gutenberg blocks, plugins, and REST API integrations.
• Strong understanding of responsive development, semantic markup, accessibility, SEO fundamentals, and performance optimization (Core Web Vitals).

About The Role

As a WordPress Developer, you will translate design concepts and project specifications into functional websites and CMS features. You will create and customize WordPress themes, templates, and Gutenberg blocks, and develop tailored functionality where standard platform capabilities are not sufficient. Your work will support consistent experiences across browsers and devices while meeting agreed standards for accessibility, search optimization, and performance. You will also contribute to ongoing website maintenance, resolve technical issues, and help clients or internal teams use WordPress effectively. This role requires sound judgment, careful testing, and the ability to document solutions for future support.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have professional experience developing and maintaining WordPress websites, with practical knowledge of PHP, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and WordPress theme and plugin architecture. Experience creating custom post types, Gutenberg blocks, plugins, and REST API integrations is valued. You should understand responsive development, semantic markup, accessibility principles, SEO fundamentals, and website performance optimization, including Core Web Vitals and PageSpeed Insights. Familiarity with databases, hosting environments, server-side configuration, and version control is beneficial. We are looking for someone who can troubleshoot independently, communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical partners, manage priorities, and follow consistent coding and documentation practices.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with UX/UI designers and project stakeholders to turn approved designs into engaging, accessible WordPress experiences. Develop responsive websites and customize themes, template files, and Gutenberg blocks to meet client specifications. Write clean, maintainable code in accordance with WordPress community standards and established guidelines for PHP, CSS, JavaScript, HTML, and semantic HTML5.

Implement on-page SEO recommendations in partnership with in-house or external consultants. Test websites across browsers, devices, and screen sizes, and address issues that affect usability or consistency. Measure and improve site speed, user experience, and Core Web Vitals. Extend WordPress functionality through custom post types, plugins, and REST API connections as required.

Maintain CMS, database, and server-side configurations; assess and apply WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates through appropriate testing. Diagnose and resolve bugs related to code, integrations, plugins, or hosting environments. Research platform updates and relevant development practices. Provide technical support and practical training to clients or internal teams, and maintain clear documentation of code, fixes, and implementation methods.
