Job summary

Owens Corning is seeking a Millworker to support daily wood fabrication and assembly in a manufacturing setting. You will load, assemble, and finish wood pieces through various stages of production, while following plans and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is generally required.
• A four-year apprenticeship program or a combination of more than four years' work experience in the trade and some high school or university courses.
• Red Seal or trade certification is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Plan joints, assemble parts and perform partial assemblies.
• Sandblast wood surfaces.
• Reinforce joints in casements.
• Operate woodworking machines such as power saws, jointers, mortisers, shapers and use hand tools to cut, shape and form parts.
• Finishing touches on surfaces.
• Study plans, specifications or drawings of items to be manufactured, or prepare specifications.
• Mark outlines or dimensions of parts on wood.
• Trim joints and assemble parts and subassemblies to form a complete unit using glue and clamps, and reinforce joints using nails, screws or other fasteners.
• Sand wood surfaces and apply veneer, stain or varnish to finished products.
• Repair or remodel wood accessories and related products.
• Estimate the quantity, type and cost of materials required.
