Job summary

VSR Industries in Henderson, NV is seeking a full-time carpenter to design, build, remodel, retrofit, and maintain structures from blueprints and drawings. You will determine materials, prepare layouts, cut, assemble, and install hardware, while inspecting work for compliance with specifications.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years' remodeling or furniture repair experience, basic math, and proficiency with common hand tools. A pre-employment drug screen and background check are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience remodeling wood structures or furniture repair.
• Basic math skills and accurate tape measure usage.
• Experience with basic hand tools preferred.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Knowledge of dowel construction, butt joint construction, and dao construction.
• Good eye-hand coordination and ability to follow directions in English.
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Work from blueprints, specifications, drawings to design, build, remodel, retrofit, and maintain structures.
• Determine materials and equipment required for work orders based on blueprints.
• Prepare layout and mark cutting lines on materials.
• Cut materials to measurements using chop saws, table saws, and trim routers.
• Assemble cut materials and fasten with brackets, screws, nails.
• Install hardware such as locks and kick plates and ensure proper fit.
• Inspect completed work for conformance with specifications.
• Participate in maintenance and operation of the wood shop.
• Maintain and repair hand or power tools and equipment.

• Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials.
• Cuts materials to measurements using chop saws, table saws, and trim routers.
• Assembles cut materials and fasten together with brackets, screws, and/or nails.
• Marks, cuts, and shapes materials to prescribed measurements; assemble by fastening with nails, staples, dowels, or glue.
• Fits, installs, and maintains finished hardware such as locks and kick plates.
• Inspects completed work for conformance with specifications.
• Participate in the maintenance and operation of the wood shop.
• Maintains and repairs hand or power tools and equipment of the carpentry trade by cleaning, oiling, setting, or other processes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience of experience in remodeling of wood structures; furniture repair or construction; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have basic math skills, and accurately use a tape measure.
• Experience using basic hand tools (preferred.)
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Familiar with the following methods: dowel construction, butt joint construction, and dao construction.
• Must have good eye-hand coordination.
• Be able to understand basic directions in English (required)
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check are required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to stand, walk and lift for up to 8 hours daily.
• Vision abilities requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth
• Required to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 lbs. continually.
