Job summary

Responsibilities include fabricating crates and boxes, applying cushioning, verifying markings, and ensuring compliance with ASTM, DoD, and Army standards; candidates must lift heavy materials and operate hand tools and PIT equipment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of military preservation, packaging, and containerization concepts.
• Familiarity with ASTM standards and packaging specifications.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and packaging codes.
• Detail-oriented inspection of outgoing material to identify deficiencies.
• Ability to independently resolve routine packaging needs and escalate complex cases.

Responsibilities

• Review material for shipment; assess adequacy of packaging and containers.
• Determine if material is prepared for its intended transportation and storage.
• Identify and correct packaging deficiencies before release for shipment.
• Fabricate or repair wooden crates, boxes, skids, and blocking systems per specs.
• Inspect containers for workmanship and compliance with packaging requirements.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams when unusual packaging needs arise.
