Job summary

Western States Metal Roofing is seeking a Packaging, Crating & Shipping specialist to manage daily packaging operations and crate building. You will work with production, logistics, and customer service to meet deadlines while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires carpentry skills, experience with shipping regulations, and ability to operate power tools. Full-time in Phoenix with outdoor work conditions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in packaging, shipping, or warehouse operations.
• Carpentry skills including crate building and woodworking.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, nail guns, saws and other power tools safely.
• Knowledge of shipping regulations (domestic & international preferred).
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Read and follow blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Basic computer skills for shipping software and inventory systems.
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in Phoenix conditions.

Responsibilities

• Build custom crates, pallets, and supports for metal products.
• Read and interpret blueprints and packaging specs.
• Repair or modify crates to meet shipping requirements.
• Pack products with protective materials to prevent damage.
• Prepare shipping documents, labels, and freight paperwork.
• Coordinate with carriers and logistics partners; track shipments.
• Maintain inventory of packaging materials and supplies.
• Perform quality checks and adhere to safety standards; support improvements.
