Job summary

The New School's Parsons School for Design seeks Student Assistants for the E4 Wood, Metal, Tool Checkout, and Light lab within the Making Center. The role involves assisting students and faculty with tool checkout, monitoring spaces, and supporting daily processes.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions from supervisor.
• Ability to work without close supervision or alone.
• Ability to handle objects weighing up to 25 lbs and may lift up to 50 lbs.
• Flexibility to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of customer service to students, faculty and staff.
• Assist with reservations and equipment requests.
• Monitor making spaces and assist with shop upkeep and organization.
• Assist in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery.
• Perform basic reception duties and help with daily shop operations.
