Job summary

Owens Corning seeks a Process Engineer in Laurel, MS to serve as the technical resource for interior door facings across three production lines. You will collaborate with operations, R&D and quality to optimize manufacturing and report to the Plant Quality Manager, supporting Interior Operations.

You will prioritize safety, drive quality improvements, monitor KPIs, and lead lean initiatives while guiding line trials and acting as a bridge between manufacturing and R&D teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering, wood science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a wood product manufacturing process, 3 to 5 years preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety in daily activities and process changes.
  • Champion quality improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and optimize critical to customer physical and aesthetic properties.
  • Own the production line trial process and work in conjunction with R&D teams.
  • Monitor process KPIs and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency and throughput.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality defects.
  • Champion lean manufacturing initiatives and cost reduction efforts.
