The University of Massachusetts Amherst Athletics department is seeking an Assistant Coach for Women’s Tennis to recruit, coach, mentor, and provide administrative support for the program under the Head Coach.

This full-time, onsite role requires commitment to NCAA rules, strong communication, and the ability to work weekends and evenings, along with racquet stringing skills and a valid MA driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Two to four years of women’s tennis intercollegiate coaching and/or playing experience.
  • Ability to string tennis racquets.
  • Ability to work weekends and nights.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of women’s tennis methods and techniques of coaching.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and intercollegiate athletics.

Responsibilities

  • Devotes full-time attention and energies to duties as Assistant Coach of the women’s tennis team.
  • Complies with NCAA, conference, and university rules and policies; ensures staff and student athletes comply.
  • Assists the Head Coach to recruit and enroll student athletes with academic, athletic, and community achievements.
  • Fosters a positive student-athlete experience and healthy team dynamics/culture.
  • Promotes academic excellence and conduct within the team.
  • Cultivates diversity, equity, and inclusion within the program.
  • Supports team success and annual performance objectives set by the Head Coach.
  • Coordinates with Athletics offices on administrative functions and facilities management.
