Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking an Ultrasonographer to perform ultrasound procedures under Radiologist supervision, producing high-quality images and presenting results for interpretation.

Requirements include an accredited ultrasound program or cross-training, BLS, and ARDMS/ARRT registry-with timeline. EMR and radiology systems experience preferred; candidate will join a team focused on safety and patient care.

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited program in ultrasound or MWHC/MIF cross-training program, or twelve months relevant experience required.
• BLS certification required.
• ARDMS (AB or OB/GYN or RVT) or ARRT (S) required; registry timelines follow.
• Registry in Abdomen (AB) and Pediatric Sonography (PS) preferred.
• Three years relevant experience preferred.
• Experience with EMR, Radiology information systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for ultrasound examinations by confirming orders, verifying identities, and obtaining medical histories.
• Performs ultrasound examinations on all patient age groups and maintains competency.
• Adheres to department policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure quality patient care.
• Disinfects equipment and probes according to standards.
• Supervises students and supports ultrasound cross-training program.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures uninterrupted service.
• Records patient information and procedural data for accurate billing and operations.
• Participates in performance improvement activities for the Ultrasound department.
