One80 Place in Charleston, SC seeks Shelter Assistants to provide direct support and supervision to women and families experiencing homelessness. You will help maintain a safe, housing-focused, trauma-informed environment and assist clients with daily routines while guiding them toward permanent housing.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma required; higher education preferred.
• Two years’ experience in homeless or social services setting.
• Experience with women, families, or vulnerable populations.
• Ability to maintain boundaries and professionalism in high-stress situations.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, or de-escalation.
• Reliable transportation.

Aufgaben

• Provide day-to-day support to women, children, and families residing in the shelter.
• Greet, orient, and assist new shelter clients during intake and shelter orientation.
• Complete an initial needs assessment and act upon critical needs appropriately.
• Identify clients needing housing documents and relay to the case manager.
• Ensure safety and security by following policies and shelter schedules.
• Monitor common areas for hazards and report to Shelter Director.
• Enforce shelter policies in a fair and respectful manner.
• Respond to emergencies following Critical Incidents policies.
• Report maintenance, IT and alarm issues to designated emails.
• Coordinate with operation staff for cleaning, meals, and daily tasks.
• Assist clients with daily routines, meals, and shelter schedules.
• Facilitate group activities and life-skills sessions as assigned.
• Document daily activities and incidents in HMIS.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Make medications available to appropriate clients when requested.
• Collaborate with One80 Place staff to foster teamwork.
• Participate in required training and staff meetings.
• Substitute for other staff as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
