Oregon Department of Transportation in Salem seeks an Information Systems Specialist 5 – Wireless Systems Specialist (Radio) to construct, install, maintain, and repair wireless two-way radio and microwave networks. You will support communications for state agencies and emergency services, and coordinate with multiple vendors.

The role requires experience in land mobile radio, equipment installation, on-site training, and travel. Driving is essential; on-call emergency response is expected.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of wireless communications or information systems experience in wireless systems.
• An associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, OR completion of a two-year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND two years of information systems experience in wireless systems.
• A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

Responsabilités

• Evaluate situations and resolve questions or customer inquiries.
• Install, test, replace or repair a variety of cable types.
• Review customer’s operational needs and requests.
• Identify, prepare and provide on-site training for customers.
• Manage and coordinate the installation of mobile radio equipment.
• Identify, diagnose, track and report problems and determine repair or replacement priorities.
• Contact multiple equipment vendors for technical information and repairs.
• Maintain systems and equipment to ensure peak operating condition.
• Travel as required; operate on-call for emergency response.
