Job summary

The Oregon Department of Transportation in The Dalles is seeking an Information Systems Specialist 5 – Wireless Systems Specialist (Radio) to install, maintain, and repair wireless two-way radio and microwave networks across the region. You will support communications for multiple agencies and coordinate with vendors as needed.

The role requires hands-on field work, on-site training for customers, and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Four years of wireless or information systems experience in wireless systems.
• Or an associate's degree plus two years of related wireless experience.
• Bachelor's degree may substitute for all qualifications.
• Valid U.S. driver license and acceptable driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate situations and resolve customer inquiries.
• Install, test, replace or repair varied cable types and radio gear.
• Review customers' operational needs and requests.
• Provide on-site training for customers.
• Coordinate installation of mobile radio equipment.
• Identify, diagnose and report problems and priorities.
• Coordinate with vendors for information and upgrades.
• Maintain systems to ensure peak operation.
• Work on towers and antennas up to 180 feet, with potential high voltages.
• Travel region-wide or statewide as needed.
• Move or lift heavy objects over 70 pounds following safety procedures.
