Job summary

Old Wisconsin Sausage is seeking a hands-on Material Handler to move and stage WIP and finished goods within the facility’s packaging area. You will inspect materials, weigh items, and ensure correct lot and size organization for FIFO inventory, while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

The role requires basic GMP/SQF knowledge, 1–3 years manufacturing experience, and competence with industrial equipment. You will support packaging lines and perform daily production paperwork as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires education generally equivalent to a High School Diploma.
• Prefer 1-3 years of manufacturing or food manufacturing experience.
• Requires basic understanding of GMP's, HACCP and SQF guidelines.
• Requires mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Requires good oral and written communication skills to interact with and direct employees.
• Ability to use industrial equipment; must be trained as an Authorized employee under LOTO.

Responsibilities

• Inspects materials/product identification for deficiencies when unloading WIP to cooler.
• Unloads and weighs combos, racks and barrels into WIP.
• Organizes product by cut size, species and lot number for FIFO inventory.
• Scans product out to and back from assigned lines in Packaging.
• Returns items from packaging back to WIP and scans back in.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of the WIP area.
• Loads trailer with clean combos, barrels, racks and rework.
• Cleans department during breaks and as needed; supports sanitation of equipment.
• Transfers product from Combo to Barrels using dumpers; dumps product into hoppers at packaging lines.
• Pulls raw materials from storage (film/labels) when needed and supplies packaging line.
• Completes daily production paperwork per quality requirements.
• Takes responsibility to produce safe, quality food products; reports food safety issues immediately.
