Job summary

Wintrust Financial Corporation seeks a Retail Banking Intern to join a 12-week, paid summer program. The role runs May–August, 40 hours per week, with some Saturdays required, and positions in Itasca, Barrington, Bloomingdale, Addison, and Wood Dale.

Responsibilities include serving customers, recognizing cross-sell opportunities, processing deposits, and shadowing bankers while gaining real-world experience in community banking.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a US college or university, preferably entering junior or senior year.
• Concentrations in Finance, Business, Management, or related field.
• Cash handling and customer service experience preferred.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Leadership, extracurricular, or volunteering experience is a plus.
• Authorized to work permanently in the US; immigration sponsorship is not available.

• Operate a teller drawer to serve customers and bank personnel in lobby or drive up.
• Recognize potential cross-sell opportunities.
• Comply with all department and regulatory policy & procedures.
• Process mail, night depository, and ATM deposits.
• Open/close branch.
• Participate in community events.
• Shadow Relationship Bankers, Branch Managers, and Commercial Bankers within the branch.

Retail Banking Intern Job Responsibilities:

Details:

• The 2027 program will run for 12 weeks from May through August.
• 40 hours/week, Paid summer internship.
• Must be available to work (some) Saturdays.
• Positions available in Itasca, Barrington, Bloomingdale, Addison, and Wood Dale
• Participate in intern program activities, events, and development opportunities with your cohort.

Compensation:

• The hourly rate for this role is $19.00/hour.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a US college or university, with preference for students entering their junior or senior year.
• Concentrations in Finance, Business, Management, or related field.
• Cash handling and customer service experience preferred.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Leadership, extra-curricular, or volunteering experience skills with a passion for results.
